Samyang 21mm F1.4 ED AS UMC CS

The Samyang 21mm F1.4 ED AS UMC CS is a nice wide angle lens, with good image quality from edge to edge, even wide open. Being a bit wider than the 23mm lenses, which Fujifilm offers, either with a similar f/1.4 aperture or as a more compact f/2, the Samyang 21 still is an interesting and affordable alternative to the two Fujifilm lenses. The 21mm focal length is similar to an untraditional 31.5mm on a full frame camera, or 69.3 degrees angle of view. It is a bit wider than the classical 35mm, but still not too wide, even allowing you to be more flexible in tight spaces.

As with all the CS lenses, this is a manual focus lens, and you might wonder why you should consider this over the two auto focus lenses of Fujifilm, which are both receiving good reviews. If you are not into manual focus, the answer should be a given, this is not a good alternative. But if you don't mind the manual focus, then this lens keeps up well against both lenses in its own rights. While it share the f/1.4 aperture of the highend 23mm f/1.4 Fujinon lens, the Samyang/Rokinon lens will be found at a much cheaper price, while still giving good image quality. If we compare it to the more compact 23mm f/2 Fujinon lens, then the f/1.4 aperture of the Samyang/Rokinon lens is an obvious point of comparison.

But there is of course more to the lens than this, as the use of abbreviations reveal. This is a lens with an Extra-low Dispersion (ED) element, improving sharpness and chromatic aberration, three ASpherical (AS) elements, which gives great resolution through the width of the image, Ultra Multi Coating (UMC), which gives good protection to the lens and overall good improvements of the image quality.

This is, as mentioned, a manual focus lens. If you're only using auto focus, then this lens is not for you, as is the case with all manual focus lenses. This is a lens, which allows you to slow down a little, and think more about the composition of the photo. And it does allow more within the frame, compared to its 23mm competitors, so if you've always felt the 23mm a bit too tight, then this is a lens for you.

XF 16mm f/1.4 WR

This is probably one of the most celebrated and revered Fujinon lenses, recommended by far the most of the people, who have had their hands on it. Though it being a wide angle, the close focusing distance of only 15 cm (!) allows you to get very creative with it, even creating some nice bokeh - if that is your thing. While many people would consider this pearl of a lens mainly for street photography or landscape photography, it can easily be used for product, food, and even and even portrait photography. Many would insist that this, together with the 56mm f/1.2 and the 90mm f/2 are the best lenses to get for your Fujifilm camera, having almost everything covered. To purchase the XF 16mm f/1.4 WR, follow link for below option/s: Amazon Specs: Focal Length 16mm (35mm Equivalent Focal Length: 24mm) Maximum Aperture f/1.4 Minimum Aperture f/16 Angle of View 83.2° Minimum Focus Distance 5.91" / 15 cm ...

XF 27mm f/2.8

The XF 27mm f/2.8 is one of Fujifilm's few actual pancake lenses, the only other being the 18mm f/2 lens. It offers an equivalent of 41mm on a full frame camera, or a 55.5 degrees angle of view. This lens has no weather sealing, is not considered particularly fast, and has a rumor for not having particular good resolution. It has a rumor for being a kind of "meh" lens, only being attractive for its cheap price. Yet, many reviewers express surprise when they review this little gem. Apparently it has more than what the eyes sees, particularly for the casual street photographer or documentarist, who wants something wider than the 35mm lenses, but still a little tighter than the 23mm lenses. It is a lens which both allows you to take in the scene, but also to get intimate with the subject, combining the best of the 35mm and 23mm worlds. And did I mention that it is a cheap lens? Also, the rumor of not having a particular good resolution might be unjustified. Check more b...
