Third Party Lenses

There are a long list of third party lens companies, which offer great (and sometimes not so great) lens alternatives to Fujifilm's Fujinon lenses. Most of these lenses are manual focus lenses, but some are offering auto focus lenses, and there most likely will be more.

The list below will have companies added, as we have posts prepared for their lenses, so for now this isn't a conclusive list.

Each of the companies will also be presented in a longer article, which can be found by clicking on their names.

Samyang (Rokinon)

While Samyang has made many more lenses than those presented below, and those lenses also come for the Fujifilm X Mount, they are all made for full frame sensor cameras. The lenses presented below are made specifically for ASP-C sensor cameras, and therefore are matched for Fujifilm's X Mount line. The full frame sensor camera lenses provided by Samyang are essentially non-APS-C sensor lenses with an adapter attached, and by that should be considered among non-native lenses adapted to Fujifilm's X Mount, rather than actual native lenses to the X Mount.

While the full frame sensor lenses might give good results, the APS-C sensor lenses are been created to perform the best with their respective APS-C sensor camera.

XF 23mm f/1.4 R

The XF 23mm f/1.4 R takes some points here, being among the older - but not oldest - Fujinon lenses (from 2014), one of the lenses with the widest aperture, of f/1.4, and being among the bigger and more heavy prime lenses. But being big and heavy for a Fuji lens, is rather relative compared to lenses of other brands. And this lens creates magic. The 23mm focal length, which equals 35mm on a full frame sensor or a 63.4 degrees angle of view, is great for a lot of casual shooting, street photography, and even some kinds of portrait photography. However, the very wide aperture and amazing image quality, is what makes this lens magical. It is a lens made for the creatives, allowing you to express whichever thought comes to mind. XF 16mm f/1.4 WR

This is probably one of the most celebrated and revered Fujinon lenses, recommended by far the most of the people, who have had their hands on it. Though it being a wide angle, the close focusing distance of only 15 cm (!) allows you to get very creative with it, even creating some nice bokeh - if that is your thing. While many people would consider this pearl of a lens mainly for street photography or landscape photography, it can easily be used for product, food, and even and even portrait photography. Many would insist that this, together with the 56mm f/1.2 and the 90mm f/2 are the best lenses to get for your Fujifilm camera, having almost everything covered.
